Hey there sovereign parent πŸ’œ

Court days (or difficult co-parenting moments) can trigger a strong stress response in the body. When we perceive threat β€” whether from a judge, the other parent, or fear of losing time with our child β€” the nervous system shifts into fight-or-flight. Cortisol and adrenaline rise, breathing gets shallow, and clear thinking often shuts down.

This is normal, but it makes it much harder to show up regulated and child-focused when it matters most.

Here are three simple, science-backed resets I personally use:

1. The Anchor Breath
Place one hand on your chest and one on your belly. Inhale for 4 counts, hold for 4, exhale for 6.

Silently say: β€œI am here. I am safe. I am showing up for my child.

”The longer exhale activates your parasympathetic nervous system, lowering heart rate and cortisol.

2. The 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding
Name: 5 things you can see, 4 you can touch, 3 you can hear, 2 you can smell, 1 you can taste.

This pulls your brain out of anxious β€œwhat if” loops and back into the present moment.

3. The Sovereign Statement
Quietly say:
I am regulated.
I am clear.
I speak only from what is best for my child.

Simple self-statements like this help reframe threat responses and reduce emotional reactivity.

These resets are small, but when practiced they make a real difference in how we show up for ourselves and our children.

The truth is, nervous system regulation isn’t a one-time upgrade β€” it’s an ongoing practice of returning to presence. The more consistently we sync with our body throughout the day, the steadier and less reactive we become over time.

Right now, take one gentle breath with me:
Inhale β€” β€œI am here.”
Exhale β€” β€œI am home.”
